HP’s Wide-format ‘Marvel’ Brings Heroes to Life

HP Graphics Solutions Business

Somewhere in Manhattan, people are beginning their workday under the watchful eyes of Earth’s mightiest heroes. That’s down to Quantum Visual Imaging, which called upon the speed, quality and versatility of the HP Latex 1500 Printer to produce these truly stunning murals on three walls in the headquarters of Marvel Entertainment.

Along one wall, a life-size Spider-Man swings into action against a backdrop of familiar friends and fiends. On another, a larger-than-life Captain America stoically surveys the challenges ahead while a montage of his greatest battles plays out behind him. And lest you think Marvel would do any less for its television heroes, think again, true believer: The Defenders get the comic-panel treatment with images featuring Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, in both their television and comic book iterations. All were printed on HP PVC-free wallpaper. The effect is startling, as if you’ve fulfilled the daydreams of children (and quite a few adults) everywhere by walking into a comic book world.

The Marvel project highlights a growing trend in branding and identity – clients are increasingly looking for one-stop-shop designers who can craft not only individual print pieces but also entire environments and experiences. Today:

  • Restaurants want signs and wall applications in addition to menus
  • Retailers want point-of-purchase posters and even vehicle wraps
  • Event coordinators want everything from posters to temporary wall coverings.

We already know you have the design chops to create these pieces. And when you work closely with a print shop that has an HP Latex 1500 Printer, you know you can produce them all quickly with ease, quality and dependability. How quickly? Up to 800 square feet an hour! In other words: super-speed.

And with the ability to print graphics up to 126 inches (10.5 feet) wide on a wide variety of more than 500 substrates – including paper, vinyl, canvas and 12 different types of fabric – your only limits are your own imagination.
