Want to elevate the look of your next booklet, brochure or magazine but can’t squeeze one more penny out of your printing budget?
This little trick is guaranteed to give your project a little added “oomph” for the same price you’re already paying to have it bound.
What’s the secret? Find out in the video above!

Hi Sabine,
Thanks for sharing this tip. I have a 28-page 1/2 size booklet I’m working on and think this would be an interesting way to elevate the feel of it.
Curious if this would work for my booklet and if thickness of paper is important in getting the right feel to the spine. I am going to ask my printer about square back binding to see if they offer it.
Thanks for reaching out, Sarah. Twenty-eight pages seems well within limits, but the thickness of paper is key. Let me refer you to this post regarding that aspect of things: https://www.paperspecs.com/quiz/weekly-quiz-whats-the-maximum-number-of-pages-you-can-saddle-stitch/ (Remember, this is basically a saddle stitch that has been squooshed! ;-))
And yes, do check with your printer. Would be really curious to know if they’re offering this technique. The equipment is called a “Booklet Maker” (go figure) and is made by Plockmatic.
