Sappi's New Direct-mail Papers

sappiWhatever “fussin’ and a feudin’ ” you hear coming from the direct-mail market over postal rates, they’ll continue to pump out postcards, catalogs and circulars until the last letter carrier drops. Apparently Sappi had the same thought as today they’ve unveiled three new offerings tailored to the industry: all made to 7 pt. caliper and guaranteed to meet U.S. postal requirements.

Those new papers are Somerset Web Gloss, Somerset Web Satin, and Somerset Web Matte. They’re produced with 80% renewable energy, and feature SFI Chain-of-Custody certification, standard for all Somerset papers. (PEFC and FSC certification, and 10% Post Consumer Recycled Fiber (PCRF) are available upon request.)

Here are the stats, straight from the mama sheet:

  • Gloss: 43 lb.-100 lb. Text; 70 lb. & 80 lb. Cover
  • Satin: 45 lb.-100 lb. Text; 64 lb. Cover
  • Matte: 45 lb.-105 lb. Text; 65 lb. & 80 lb. Cover.

Hi Jenny. I’m afraid this story is more than three years old now so not sure if these papers are still available. Please contact Sappi directly at [email protected] for more information.

Hey Aaron I’m considering emailing them. Have you worked with them before? If so, how was your experience.
        Thanks!
