Weekly Quiz: A Tri-Fold Brochure is Folded How Many Times?

Answer: Two!

But it’s called a tri-fold – so how can it only be folded twice?

Well, a tri-fold brochure is created from one sheet – in most cases a letter- or A4-size one – that is folded twice to form 3 panels on one side (hence “tri”-fold).

And technically, since your sheet has 3 sides, that means you have a total of 6 pages to work with (front and back).

🎯 Sabine’s Tip: The panel that is folded inward must be a bit shorter. I like to take off an 8th of an inch (0.125”) myself, but you can get away with a 16th of an inch (.0625″) to allow the finished piece to lay flat.
