What Paper Finish Boasts Parallel Lines?

Answer: Laid!

This paper finish is produced during the manufacturing process using a special roller that creates the pattern in the wet pulp. The result: lines that run vertically and horizontally through the finished product.

You will most often see laid paper in stationery, invitations, and some luxury packaging.

It is also sometimes confused with wove paper, which has a relatively even surface, except for a slight toothiness created by the use of a felt roller covered in woven wire during the papermaking process.
