Yep, when it comes to Soft Touch you have 3 basic options; all have very distinct advantages, disadvantages and price points.
The easiest way is to use a paper that has that feeling “baked in.” Yet the more you print on these sheets, the more you cover up the Soft Touch, thus defeating the purpose.
A popular alternative is flooding the sheet with a Soft Touch coating or varnish. This runs inline on an offset press, making this a time- and cost-effective alternative.
Finally, in an offline process, a super-soft laminate is applied to your printed sheet. This option provides the most scuff resistance and is ideal for packaging.
