Gather ‘round the campfire kids and warm up next to some very creative design from FAME Retail for AIGA Minnesota Design Camp 2013. What makes the pieces for this project burn so brightly? Well … big impact with minimal ink colors; high-quality, high-character uncoated stock; and a cross-channel blending of old school and new school techniques.
To convey a “connections” theme for this special event, the design team started with the childhood camp experience as inspiration. To tell the story of the juxtaposition and collaboration of all things real and tactile with the constant evolution of all things digital, they blended traditional and digital media.
On the traditional side: The copywriting does the job of any great camp counselor – adding spirit and fun. Fire-kissed orange and crispy metallic pantones atop natural, speckled paper make for a smoking-good color palette. A letterpressed sketchbook and badge-inspired lanyard add just the right tactile touch.
On the digital side: The poster invitation makes great use of augmented reality with an app for toasting digital marshmallows via a digital campfire engaged potential attendees and increasing event response.
