Holiday Card 2012

345-holidaycard-1

The concept of this cross-media project can run rings around many a ho-hum holiday greeting card. The set of three coasters is a nice gift for potential clients, but there’s a lot more going on here.

Taking it two steps further, the design team also created a companion website and Facebook page to add interactive fun. Each coaster features a (possibly false)“tidbit” about the history of coasters for recipients to investigate on the dedicated site.

Crisp, clean letterpress printing really shows off the very detail winter scenes, which are printed in three colors on richly textured Crane’s Lettra Double Thick Cover.

The diecut round coasters were presented with a postcard and tucked inside a short-fold pocket folio then tied nicely with a simple bow. Clever copy ties the whole package together and makes you want to look for more of these hidden gems about coasters.

Did you know that in 14th century Europe leaving a ring from your beverage on your host’s table was considered a formal declaration of war? Hmmmm.
