Bet Your Font Doesn’t Taste This Good

Helvetica, that workhorse font beloved by Apple and the IRS alike, is now the namesake and inspiration for a watering hole for designers in Lakewood, Ohio.

The Helvetica Juice Bar and Café, founded by graphic designers Juan Vergara and Edward Padilla, serves up authentic Latin American dishes and smoothie-like juices, the latter concocted from water, ice, sugar and pulp (fruit, not paper).

Get those creative juices flowing with a cup of aguapanela, a creamy drink made from sugar cane panela, or enjoy a Maduro Burger for lunch – that’s caramelized plantain slices and shredded beef topped with churrasco sauce on a bun.

Located on Detroit Avenue across from the Virginia Marti College of Art and Design, Helvetica was designed to attract those in Lakewood’s design community, even offering a library of graphic-design books in the café as a pleasant alternative to smartphone and laptop perusal.

Next up, Times New Rum & Bar?
