Another Step Forward for Straw

Step Forward Paper, recently launched by Prairie Pulp and Paper, is available in Canada through Staples Canada.

The 8.5″ X 11″ sheet is 80 percent tree-free product made from wheat straw waste and bleached using an elemental chlorine-free (ECF) sequence. The paper is FSC (Rainforest Alliance) certified. Step Forward can be used in home, office and commercial printing.

Prairie Pulp and Paper Inc. has worldwide patents pending on its process. The paper is currently made in India, but reports indicate there are future plans for a manufacturing facility in Manitoba.

You may remember that Canopy is an enthusiastic proponent of straw paper and used it for a special edition of a Margaret Atwood book.
