Spotlight: Mainline Holographics
We’ve all been there. Mulling over a new packaging design assignment you swing by a store to gauge the competition, only to be hit with the million-dollar question: How do I make my client’s package not only stand out from the competition’s, but also communicate the luxury and value of what’s inside? It’s the same challenge that skincare brand GLAMGLOW faced after they were snapped up by Estée Lauder in 2015. And like so many other companies, they turned to an intense, attention grabbing tool that never fails to draw the gaze, even as it emphasizes just how special a package’s contents truly are: holographic patterns from Mainline Holographics.
Widest Holographic Pattern Selection Anywhere
When Shannon and Glenn Dellimore first began to share their GLAMGLOW homemade skincare products with Hollywood executives and A-list actors back in 2010, they circulated them in white, unlabeled sample jars. However, wanting to grow its appeal beyond Tinseltown they turned to Mainline, which has been providing intense, can’t-look-away holographics for everything from packaging and magazine covers to POP displays, stickers and more for nearly 25 years now. The trippy rainbow pattern they produced for GLAMGLOW packaging fit the product’s cool ’70s-style branding perfectly.
Astonishingly, “rainbow” is just one of 63 (!) different holographic patterns offered by Mainline – more than any other laminator in the business. These include:
- Floating Hearts
- Big Bang
and many, many more.
All of these holographic patterns – including silver and brushed silver – can be laminated to papers ranging from 80 lb. to 40 pt. packaging board, with no upcharge for FSC-certified products.
Of course no matter how cool the pattern, holographic film won’t help you much if you can’t get it when you need it. Fortunately, Mainline Holographics boasts an industry-leading flexibility that comes from having their own proprietary holographic press. This means they can produce bespoke 28-x-40-inch sheets with an extensive number of custom and generic holographic patterns, and fulfill those orders faster than anyone in the industry – usually within one week to 10 days. This is thanks, in part, to their:
- Ability to make their own silver/holographic film during the lamination process
- Central location for full U.S. distribution
In GLAMGLOW’s case, they provided the packaging printer with 30,000 sheets of 18 pt. Metsä board – featuring that cool rainbow polyester film made to order – in just six days!
