Weekly Quiz: Uniformly Raising Your Paper’s Surface is Called…?

Answer: Single-Level Embossing!

There are 3 levels of embossing available to you: Single-level, multi-level, and sculptured emboss.

A single level emboss (such as the one featured above) raises the surface of the paper at 1 level and is generally used for lines, borders and single-dimension images such as line art or type. A die where all the elements of the design are etched on a single level is the least expensive since it is created using a single-step process. (Check out this video for an excellent example of a single-level emboss!)
