Weekly Quiz: What’s this Closure Called?

Answer: Button and string (tie)!

One of our favorite closures, the button and string closure (sometimes referred to as “button and tie”) invites the recipient to enjoy the opening of the envelope, folder, invitation or package in a playful way, which heightens the anticipation and adds an interactive element to your piece.

Additionally this closure allows for all sorts of fun combinations of buttons, string and eyelets.

Hi Sabine!! We are now doing saddle-sewing in-house! Soo much fun and adds just the right amount of pizzazz to that special project.

How cool, Glenn! Can’t wait to see some of the projects you create with it in-house. (For those who aren’t familiar with DataGraphic’s work, check out some of their amazing work here: https://www.paperspecs.com/?s=datagraphic )

    Hi Sabine,

Regarding the Button & String closure in this week’s newsletter quiz, please remind your readers that as fun and engaging as it is, you can’t use it for a piece going into the mail. The USPS will reject an envelope with the button & string closure (which I found out the hard way some years ago).

Thank you for that reminder, Kathy – sorry you had to learn that lesson the hard way 🙁
