
Answer: No!
“Wet strength” does not mean waterproof. Instead, it means the paper has added durability when moisture is present.
In other words, the fibers are less likely to break down when they are rubbed against either each other, or something else, when wet.
If your label truly needs to resist water, wet-strength paper may not be enough. In that case, film stocks or laminates might be the better way to go.
