Shred it & Forget it

shredWhile most of the world prepares to usher in the new year by drinking, saying and fighting way too much, about 100 people converged on Times Square three days before New Year’s Eve to shove 2013 into a shredder and be done with it once and for all. More accurately, about 100 people celebrated the 7th annual Good Riddance Day by committing their worst moments to paper, and consigning those pages to a giant paper shredder.

Some committed their worst 2013 experiences to a simple note, others threw in pictures of cheating ex-boyfriends and old diaries. And still others printed out medical scans of horrible illnesses – all fed to an industrial shredding machine: one more testament to the transformative power of print, intact or otherwise.
