Weekly Quiz: An Image Printed Across a Spread is Called a….?

Answer: Crossover!

Technically a “crossover” is a page spread in which text and/or an image extends across two facing pages “crossing over” the gutter. Needless to say great care must be taken in aligning these two pages so that the objects that cross over do not appear to be misaligned or partially omitted. (What we like like to call the “pencil in a glass of water” effect ;-))
