It’s the $500 Card, Charlie Brown

This holiday season, when you care enough to send the very best, you jolly well better start saving your pennies. Gilded Age Greetings in Parkland, Fla. is offering an exquisite Christmas card inspired by illuminated manuscripts of the Middle Ages…for just $500.

No wide-eyed kittens or poorly scribbled pine trees here; the 9”-x-7” Illuminated Merry Christmas 2010 Limited Edition card (apparently luxury never goes out of style) is printed on Hahnemühle watercolor paper using the Giclee technique – high-resolution digital scans are printed on the paper using archival quality inks.

It’s also hand gilded in 23k gold, and signed and numbered by the artist. The card is packaged in a silk presentation box, complete with white gloves for proper handling.

Finally, you can request a custom greeting to be printed inside, or a few leaves can be left blank for you to inscribe. And to think how hard it is for us to “ruin” a Moleskine by writing in it. Scribbling in a $500 card – now THAT’S pressure.
