Shimmer and shine have long been associated with wealth, status and power. Anthropologists believe even the earliest hunters and gatherers equated shimmer with spiritual powers. Ancient Egyptians used a copper carbonate to add iridescence to their cosmetics, and today, one loop around the inside of SEPHORA or a MAC store makes it clear that shimmer continues to ride a high-profile wave at the beauty counter.

Now, inspired by our inherent love of all things shimmery, NEENAH Packaging has made it easier for those brands that want their packaging to convey the same level of elegance as the product inside with the introduction of new Pearlized Folding Board.

mica-2

Ancient Mayans used to chip mica into pigments they used to coat the walls of temples. NEENAH follows that lead, using two different mica pigments in two different sizes to create this new folding carton paper with an unparalleled sparkle.

“Our goal was to create a pearlescent folding carton with understated elegance and shimmer, that was engineered for both digital and offset packaging projects. Now designers can start with the perfect backdrop, and add additional layers of luxury through design and specialty production techniques. This paper beautifully accepts metallic foils and embossing,” says Diane Marchionna, Brand Manager, NEENAH Packaging.

This new C1S Folding Board is stocked in a classic Pearl shade that will add sparkle to any package… but that’s just the beginning. NEENAH’s custom matching capabilities allow brands to create their own unique, shimmery color, or precisely match a brand’s signature color.

NEENAH Packaging specializes in custom colors, a service that many global beauty and fragrance brands are taking advantage of. Custom color options make it easy for big cosmetic and fragrance brands to adhere to brand consistency; match a hot, new nail polish or eye shadow; or create packaging for special holiday releases. With custom colors, finishes, sheet sizes, and a library of unique embossing patterns, options are essentially limitless for any brand looking to differentiate themselves at shelf.

“The options to reflect a brand’s unique characteristics are now more extensive than ever,” says Marchionna. “We strive to continually bring brand owners and package designers a steady stream of new creative options to help express their brand’s unique persona.”

From the new Pearl shade to a deep black, all NEENAH Folding Board papers are dyed through. This means that the signature brand color and package design won’t be visually interrupted by unsightly, white cut lines — further elevating the premium status of the package.

NEW C1S Pearl is stocked in 16 pt. and 18 pt. and is featured in the refreshed NEENAH Folding Board swatchbook.

“Our sheet can print on all digital equipment. Not many other products on the market are this universal. Other sheets may have to be specially treated to perform on digital presses, but once treated they won’t perform on offset presses. NEENAH Pearlized Folding Board is engineered for both digital and offset, and for specialty printing, too,” says Marchionna.

The book organizes the portfolio by color and finish, showcasing a market-leading offering of whites and neutrals, plus shimmery jewel tones, distinctive duplexes, deep blacks, a multitude of textures, and authentic-looking metalized and leather inspired finishes.
