How Was This Chalkboard Label Printed?

Answer: Screen Printing!

While digital printing offers a White ink option, any substrate you want to use has to be certified for this process and – you guessed it – chalkboard labels were not at the time this was made.

So I turned to our good friends at DataGraphic and put their screen printing expertise to the test. The result: very fine lines, a small logo and chalkboard! 😉

“I have to admit this was a first for us,” says DataGraphic President Glenn Schuster. “But screen printing is probably the most versatile of all the printing processes. It can be used to print on a wide variety of surfaces. From paper to plastics to glass to numerous 2- and 3-dimensional surfaces, no matter what shape or thickness, screen printing will get the job done.”

Though large format inkjet printing has taken over in some areas, screen printing is often preferred because of its low cost, a result of the development of improved dryers and UV curable inks.
