First Press Olive Oil

There are not too many things in life that define quality better than fine food (and of course fine printing…)

– Scott Gray, MET Fine Printers

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

A unique celebration of a century of true craftsmanship, this limited-release organic olive oil comes straight from the Kallas family orchard in the southern Peloponnesian region of Greece. With a solid reputation in crafted holiday gifting, MET Fine Printers partnered with the design team of Michael Shea and Jon Roy of SCHOOL + JACKSON to design this enticing olive oil package.

Connecting the story of the First Press Oil extraction process to the craftsmanship and joy involved in fine printing, this elegant packaging design tastefully weaves elements of cloth, foil and wood throughout.

Direct to substrate UV printing was employed to create an opaque white print on the gorgeous Natuur Halflinen (“natural and half linen”) cloth that wraps both the box and bottle of olive oil. The Fluorescent White Crane’s Lettra Writing paper on the outer and inner wrap offers an elegant contrast to the cloth.

The coin label applied to the outside of the box and bottle, along with the soft plopping sound of the magnetic closure, was added to enhance the exclusive feel of the package. The extra effort was well worth it, as we’re sure anyone lucky enough to get their hands on one of the 319 hand-numbered, limited-release packages would agree.
