Halloween ‘Too Fat’ Letter

fatYes, our society has raised itself a bumper-crop of deny-themselves-nothing rotundities, but even we had to bristle a little at the form letter one North Dakota woman is allegedly handing out this Halloween: “You [sic] child is, in my opinion, moderately obese and should not be consuming sugar treats to the extent of some children this Halloween season. My hope is that you will step up as an adult and ration candy this Halloween and not allow your child to continue these unhealthy eating habits.”

“I think it’s just really irresponsible of parents to send them out looking for free candy just ’cause all the other kids are doing it,” the woman is said to have told a morning radio show recently.

However accurate her assessment may be, what a horrible thing to say to a child. We hope her homeowner’s insurance is paid up. Heck, we all remember what befell the neighbors whose only infraction was giving away toothbrushes on Halloween…
