The Perfect Finish

This marketing piece for FastKit, a Doral, Florida, specialty finisher, packs a powerful punch … and grommet, and diecut, emboss, lamination, foil stamp, Wire-O, perfect bind!

Aptly titled, The Perfect Finish is a capability brochure that strives for the perfection you desire in your own designs; and in my humble estimation, achieves it in concept, materials and execution. This review can’t do justice to the actual piece, but here are some of my favorites:

French folded pages throughout have been diecut. The diecuts serve as thumbnail notches that repeat the company name (front) and contact information (back) of each page.

But the French folds also serve as useful camouflage for several sweet effects such as the hidden magnet that holds a 3” x 5” perfect-bound book in place as it floats atop what looks to be tufted upholstery. Of course that tufting is done with black rivets on top of the hand-sculpted multi-level brass die embossed background pattern. (I kid you not!)

An oversized #5 nickel eyelet brought a smile to my face because it was used as the embellishment on an interesting photo of a man with a large ear piercing. The section on lamination was terrific with a stepped display of matte, gloss and linen laminate finishes.

The registered raised spot UV coating done on top of film lamination brought a pair of sunglasses to another level literally and figuratively. There are examples of silkscreening, sewing, hidden Wire-O, offset and digital printing, silver foil stamping, registered diecutting. Mohawk Superfine paper throughout provides the gorgeous base for these amazing printing process and finishing techniques.
