Life Uncommon Photography

Telling a client’s story in photos is the business of Life Uncommon Photography. But something very special, very subtle sets this photographer and this promotional piece apart.

We get to know how David Tsai approaches his work in this superbly crafted and designed book. The designers show off his images (and the heart that makes them so great) with each new spread.

Letterpress type embellishes two pieces of heavy Finch Fine, which are used as the covers. Glued to the covers is a long accordion folded section (two pieces of stock are glued together to attain the final whopping 63 inches in length) that makes up the body of the book.

Some images are 4-color; others are black and white. The copy conveys the seemingly random, insignificant thoughts of the subject. But together these thoughts form personal stories that capture a moment in time that is anything but mundane.

This promo piece is something I would keep and share with others because it is lovely and entertaining and sweetly human. It conveys that every shot has a story – an intimate, important story told by someone who respects your unique perspective – and therein rests its greatest power as a marketing device.
