These words, which reflect the philosophy of most designers, are actually the core values of Finefolk, a small shop and design studio tucked away in the western part of Kansas City, Mo.
Inspired by the high-end craftsmanship of the pieces in stylist + jewelry designer Leslie Fraley’s shop, the creative team at Design Ranch named and designed the Finefolk brand.
Taking their lead from the mixture of raw and refined materials and processes on display, Design Ranch kept the look and feel simple, yet very sophisticated. All pieces are printed on uncoated paper – the raw aspect – and printed black and white with gold metallic accents.
Leslie’s business cards are the only letterpress printed piece in the mix. Scrumptious in their unpretentious look, yet soft – thanks to the use of Neenah Crane’s Lettra.
Whether postcards, notecards or small posters, all of these marketing materials stay in line with the studio’s philosophy – but often with a subtle – or not so subtle – twist. (Or should I say fold?)
When Finefolk was looking for a way to extend the brand beyond the store, Design Ranch created a unique invitation for their spring fashion show, too.
The invitation is a smart 11”-x-13” poster that is cleverly twisted and turned and folded to become a self-mailer, with a small RSVP card tucked away inside.
The night’s program– again, like all the pieces, printed in a chic black and white with gold metallic accents – is Singer sewn. It was handed out with Finefolk pencils so that guests could make notes about their favorite pieces during the show.
