Sophia + Simon Wedding Invitation

The “wish” on this wedding invitation reads, “It would be a precious present to have your pleasant presence.” But I have to say that this cute, fairytale of an invite is the real present!

Themed as a gift, the invite is a 6″ x 6″ square card constructed from 1/8” inch thick board. The board’s edges have been foiled in copper (love that attention to detail). The top and bottom are laminated with various stocks that have been laser cut and/or foiled (so fun to feel the texture and levels).

On the top, a white opalescent stock is layered with a brown laser-cut bow, polka dots, and laser-cut scallops that look like the edge of a doily. A whimsical font was chosen for both sides and done in copper-colored foil.

Flip the card over, and the same iridescent stock serves as the first layer. That is combined with a repeat of copper-colored foil used for the formal invitation language as well as a sweet illustration of what looks like two children sitting side-by-side, hands clasped.

A border of the brown paper, laser cut in a heart-inspired chain frames the whole adorable design. The envelope is formed from the matching white opalescent stock – the front blind embossed with a heart and copper foiled with the same two little kids. The envelope flap is laser cut, echoing the same heart-shaped doily edge.

The overall effect is youthful and exuberant, so clever and different … definitely the way to do a “card” invitation.
