Tempo - a Game Changing Paper

Sappi Fine Paper

Tempo, Sappi's recently launched brand, is the only paper product that enables printers to increase press room productivity - by allowing printers to cut standard ink setting time in half, enabling back up in record time - which helps printers to contain costs without any capital investment.

With Tempo, a two-sided printed sheet is ready for bindery twice as fast as standard coated paper.  With these attributes, Tempo is the ideal house sheet to respond to quick turn requests and will change a printer's business through increased productivity and associated profitability improvement.

Tempo Performance
With over 25 printer trials on Tempo, from small print shops in the Northeast, to mass-market printers in the South and on the West Coast, every printer test has achieved positive results.  Seeing is believing with Tempo - pressmen were so impressed after seeing Tempo perform, they commented:

"This product will offer material savings by eliminating aqueous overcoat on some jobs. But the real benefits come from the impact on efficiency and improved productivity. We ran a job with 80# cover paper on our six color Komori and it was ready to turn in 10 minutes."

"We anticipate using Tempo as a house sheet.  We did our testing primarily with live orders. It did allow us to back up small orders very quickly, but the real value comes in finishing.  Tempo allows me to take loads, as they are finished, directly to the cutters and folders. This greatly reduces work in process. Tempo allows us to complete more jobs in a shorter period of time, improving customer satisfaction and cash flow."

"For a big printing house, Tempo would allow us to diversify our operations and to not only compete for the big jobs - it would enable us to go after the short runs too. In addition, Tempo allows for improved throughput on press, allowing our customers and sales reps to do one press check therefore giving them more time to be in the field selling. Tempo is an easy sell."

"We tailed in Tempo after running an uncoated sheet.  We didn't make any adjustments to the ink densities. Even with the very heavy ink volume, the paper was ready to flip in just 15 minutes.  When our pressman saw it, he remarked, Tempo is a miracle."

The Market for Tempo
Tempo is not a niche opportunity - this game changing paper can have a positive impact on all types of printing and print projects - large and small.  The unique properties of Tempo can be taken advantage of in a variety of ways - the printer can utilize the rapid ink set and ink dry properties of the paper to their own best advantage.

The Tempo Guarantee
Sappi believes so strongly in Tempo's performance, that Sappi guarantees the paper will set ink in under 30 minutes and dry ink for processing at the bindery in under two hours.
