Finch Taking Responsibilit-e

Finch Paper

Finch Paper LLC has published a new report on its "hands-on" commitment to environmental protection, printed quite fittingly on its newest, "greenest" uncoated text and cover paper - Finch Fine Recycled FSC, with 30 percent postconsumer content.

The brochure, entitled "Responsibilit-e," details how Finch Paper takes proactive responsibility for environmental protection while operating a fully integrated pulp and paper manufacturing facility. Fully integrated means that, unlike paper manufacturers that purchase processed pulp to make their products, Finch Paper employees sustainably manage vast working forests across New York's famed Adirondack Region, and convert wood chips to pulp and pulp to paper at one single Upstate New York manufacturing facility.

This complex manufacturing process presents environmental challenges and, most importantly, opportunities to make a direct contribution to environmental protection. Finch Paper foresters manage more than 160,000 acres of working forestland owned by the prestigious environmental organization The Nature Conservancy, and the company's forest management practices have been third-party certified to meet the exacting standards of both the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Program.

The company also produces its own elemental chlorine-free (ECF pulp) and utilizes clean, "green" hydroelectricity and other nonfossil fuel energy sources, produced on its premises, to meet the vast majority of its energy demand.

"While some manufacturers are relatively new passengers on the environmental bandwagon," the brochure's introduction points out, "Finch Paper has charged a steady, progressive course of continuous environmental improvement" since its establishment as a lumber concern in 1865, and its move into papermaking shortly after the turn of the 20th Century.

Finch Paper is available through Finch Paper merchants across the country. To locate the merchant nearest you, please visit the "Find A Merchant" directory at www.finchpaper.com.

Finch Paper manufactures more than 250,000 tons per year of premium uncoated Finch Fine text & cover, Finch Fine Recycled FSC text and cover, Finch Opaque and Finch Digital papers. Finch papers are known for their outstanding brightness, smoothness and print reproduction.

The company is also widely regarded for its customer service and its extensive stocking program with more than 500 different items available for immediate shipment coast-to-coast.

All Finch Paper products now carry the certified label of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) program. Finch Fine text & cover and Finch Fine Digital papers carry both the SFI label and the label of the Forest Stewardship Council, "The Independent Assurance for Responsible Forest Management."
