If the envelope fits...
When online companies like Amazon send you catalogs and mailers, you know that print is still alive and well.
Granted, it is used in a changing capacity as part of a marketing campaign to drive traffic to a specific web site, which often includes direct mail, email and a web presence.
Nevertheless, there is a good chance that sooner or later you will be working on a direct mail piece again. If it is a single letter or brochure that will be mailed out, the key is to make sure that the shoe, or in this case envelope, fits.
To ensure that the pieces fit properly and insertion at the mailing house goes smoothly, the rule of thumb is that the envelope should be 1 1/2 inches longer than the longest insert and 0.125 inches taller.
For standard invitations or letters, 0.25" in height and width will do the trick.
