Greening Direct Mailers
As consumer concerns about the environment grow, companies up and down the direct mail supply chain are taking more steps to go green.
The Direct Marketing Association (DMA) launched DMAChoice, which is a Web site designed specifically for consumers, providing information and tips on a wide range of topics, including marketing preference services, privacy, safe shopping and more.
As an integral direct mail stakeholder, the U.S. Postal Service, recently appointed Sam Pulcrano to a newly created position called corporate vice president of sustainability. Pulcrano says that going green is not just a business imperative, but simply the right thing to do.
Canada Post is also encouraging mailers to be more environmentally conscious. The agency launched a green marketing campaign, highlighting its eco-friendly products, services and practices and issued its first annual Corporate Social Responsibility Report (CSR) in May.
