We have to salute the team at Studio Hinrichs who designed this Calitho promotion to create an impact with size, color and presentation. Standing out at a stately 35″ x 23″, the commemorative rendition of the U.S. flag makes a bold, graphic statement.
Using the Fourth of July and the official induction of California into the Union as inspiration, the piece serves as a great print demonstration for the printer with its 4-color plus 4-spot-color palette. I loved the metallic gold that adds visual interest on the uncoated stock.
All those accordion folds create dimensionality and the illusion of unfurling the paper as you would a fabric flag. The long, narrow finished size poses a challenge for presenting the poster, but the designers handle this beautifully from bellyband to diecut envelope.
Even the graphics for the finished panel sizes have been well planned: red and white stripes with solid white mailing panel on the front of the envelope and a blue field with gold stars for the back. Open the envelope and you see that solid gold field with white stars at each end and a crisp white bellyband with copy introducing the premise of the promo.
