“Journeys for Water" Book & Slipcover

Yes, the saturated colors drew my eye at first. But it’s the feel and sound of the paper with its lightness and flexibility that made my thumbs begin to caress the cover. All this massaging turned into a wonderful surprise. The lovely saddle-stitched book has an oddly folded slipcover that happens to be a poster.

This project, which feels more like a personal journal, is a 62-page study on water strategies for India. Bharti Dayal’s poster illustration is the design highlight. It’s rooted in a folk-painting heritage that conveys the rich history of the country.

Four-color photos print beautifully on the Lynx Text. The design team at frog used an overlapping wave pattern to decorate the covers. That pattern is repeated throughout the text in various colors as section dividers.

A special tip of the hat goes to MET Fine Printers for an admirable job on making saddle stitching 62 pages look easy (think wicked push out).
