Cool Cards of the Week

makeup_artist_card_125This week we’re putting our cards on the table and coming up aces as we play house with a housekeeping service, make faces at a makeup artist, and hit the panic button(s) with a psychologist who might be someone else altogether. And this is only January!

Dimensional Housekeeping Card

You can imagine how many business cards have passed through our eager little hands over the years, which is why it takes that little something extra to convince us to hang on to one. As nothing gets our wee little hearts beating faster than dimensional marketing, we tend to save the cards that break out of the usual 2D universe.

You have to hand it to the folks at Skyboat for coming up with this fun card for housekeeping service Hausabwart. They’re letterpress printed and then custom die-cut to leave you with a tiny little house after you’ve folded it out. Memorable without being over the top.

Laser-cut Psychologist’s Cards

There’s something impressive-yet-slightly-disturbing about b-type Design‘s business cards for Dr. Napier. Impressive because they don’t look like cards at all, and disturbing because they remind us of just how grubby our own keyboards used to get back in the ’90s.

That aside, it’s a clever gag: come to the good doctor and let him help you “reboot” your brain. Consisting of laser-cut construction card that’s also been engraved, you can’t help but show this piece to people. (Incidentally, if the “555” phone number hasn’t alerted you to the fact, this is a “concept” card. Google “Batman” and “Jack Napier.” Still an impressive card, though.)

Makeup Artist’s Card

Lesha Limonov’s calling card for a makeup artist is an inspired design, with contact details on one side, and a simple face on the other just waiting for the client or their customers to try out different makeup effects. As you can imagine, the card really comes to life when it falls into the hands of other artists.
