This kiss-and-tell promotion from Vintage Pressworks (a.k.a. Foils + Dies) is all about showing your love … or should we say the “depth” of your love when it comes to selecting the desired letterpress impression for your project.
Printed on various shades of French Paper’s Poptone as a 3-color letterpress print (black, red and white), the promo is designed to showcase the various depths achievable with letterpress printing.
The Denver-based letterpress printer does this quite appropriately with five sets of red lips that not only list the name of the type of impression, but display the depth of it as well. From peck (barely there) to bite (leaves impression on back of paper), you can see exactly how each level will look on the printed sheet (front and back).
It’s simply a clever and useful reference tool. “It allows us to communicate with a client, who might not be able to make it in to the studio, what they want to achieve with letterpress printing,” says owner Rob Barnes.
