Gilah Press + Design, a letterpress and graphic design studio located in Baltimore, Maryland, has a passion for letterpress and coasters
That’s right, the creatives at Gilah, where all of the letterpress work is printed in-house on Chandler and Price platen presses, brought the two together in a really fun way.
“We’re surrounded every day by beautiful, heavy-duty machinery that we lovingly personify with some silly names. We wanted to share our love of these machines with designers who would have an appreciation not only for what the machines are capable of, but for their personalities,” says Kat Feuerstein, Gilah’s owner/mean boss (her title, not mine!)
Nathalie Wilson did the design, illustration and copywriting on the coasters. Each one features a different piece of equipment, tells the viewer what it’s good at and of course, what Gilah named it.
“We’re crazy about coasters here, and your coffee mug just looks so much better on your desk with one of these lovelies to prop it up,” adds Feuerstein who was responsible for the art direction.
