New Ways For Your Design to SHINE

Reich Paper

From new FSC certification and postconsumer waste content to new weight and color options, Reich Paper is excited to showcase these wonderful additions to its SHINE line in a newly released swatchbook.

profileDesigned by Stislow Design in Brooklyn, it features a new format for Reich Paper swatchbooks and is a perfect example of how SHINE’s luminescent surface enhances any design by creating a rich, luxurious effect.

The overall style is lighter and cleaner, utilizing simple graphic elements to show off more of this specialty paper. The swatchbook is offset printed, foil stamped, and blind embossed, to demonstrate how well SHINE handles these finishing processes.

Lighter Weight
While working with corporate customers, Reich Paper learned that the papers and envelopes in the SHINE collection were being used extensively in large-scale direct mail campaigns. In order to offer the luminescent effect of SHINE, while making it more cost effective for these projects, a new, lighter weight 92 lb. cover was added to the SHINE Pearl line.

This lighter cover weight provides a cost savings in paper: the 92 lb. cover weighs 16 percent less than the traditional 107 lb. cover providing a better sheet yield as well as a considerable cost savings in postage.

New Color
Lilac, Midnight, Champagne, Copper, Bronze, Onyx, Pewter, Sand, Gold and Moss – all striking colors in the SHINE line to be sure. And now Reich Paper has introduced a new option – beautiful, timeless Silver – in 80 lb. text and matching 92 lb. cover to complement this wide range of classic colors.

But these colors are just the beginning. SHINE was designed to shine through traditional printing inks, which are mostly transparent. SHINE Pearl, a luminescent white paper, is by far the best-selling color in the line because any pearlescent color can be created by laying down solid ink coverage.

Demonstrating the creative possibilities of this feature, the cover of the new SHINE swatchbook was printed at 50 percent density with a non-metallic cool gray ink, giving the cover a pearlescent silver or metallic appearance.

Focus on Sustainability
SHINE has always been a smart choice for corporate customers concerned about the environment. The papers and envelopes in the line can be laser and inkjet printed, an extremely important consideration in direct mail campaigns, as it eliminates the need for separate labels.

Manufactured without the use of metals or foils, SHINE is recyclable, biodegradable, acid free and elemental chlorine-free (ECF). And now, Reich Paper has added Pearl Recycled text and cover, which contain 30 percent postconsumer waste (PCW).

In addition, SHINE paper is now certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), an independent, nongovernmental, not-for-profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. The FSC label provides consumers with a credible link between forward-thinking production and consumption.

SHINE with Print
Founded more than half a century ago by Dan Reich, Reich Paper remains a small family-owned business headquartered in Brooklyn, NY. Because of the company’s small size, it can quickly react to various customer demands and graphic arts market trends.

Many of Reich Paper’s corporate customers have expressed the notion that while the Internet can be a useful and cost-effective marketing tool in many ways, direct mail is a much more efficient means of reaching individual customers and, just as important, holding their attention. No matter how well designed an unsolicited e-mail may be, today’s advanced filtering systems mean it will most likely go straight to the spam folder to be summarily deleted, leaving the intended recipient completely unaware of its existence.

Paper, on the other hand, is tactile, intimate – even personal. And, according to Reich Paper’s corporate customers, direct mail campaigns featuring specialty paper and envelopes, like SHINE, experience a much higher than average response rate compared to those using plain papers. In short, SHINE papers help companies overcome the biggest hurdle in the direct mail business: getting the recipient to open that envelope.

Besides direct mail campaigns, the sophisticated look of SHINE paper and matching envelopes makes them a popular choice for high-end real estate brochures, automotive catalogs, annual reports, luxury packaging, invitations, holiday cards and many more applications.
