Adobe Ends PSP Program/Quark Responds

As of February 4, 2010, Adobe will discontinue its Partner Connection Print Service Provider Program.

What They Think.com’s Cary Sherburne reported on January 22 that details on the terms of transition for the existing membership are nearly finalized, and Adobe hopes to notify all of the print service provider members by the end of January at the latest. Adobe indicated that there is a plan in place for both Premium and Authorized members it feels will make them happy.

Sherburne’s article gives full details on why Adobe chose to do this now, what it means for Adobe’s commitment to the printing industry and print industry reaction.

In response, Quark announced special offers that allow eligible printers to join Quark output provider programs at no cost.

“At a time when some in our industry are moving away from print, Quark is aggressively maintaining its investment in this community,” said Cyndie Shaffstall, director of QuarkAlliance. “There is a significant opportunity for printers to take advantage of the booming Web-to-print industry, as well as traditional revenue streams. I invite output providers to join one of our programs right now at no cost.”
