Some of the Invercote product family from Iggesund is now certified compostable according to the European standard EN 13432. The certification means that Invercote possesses documented biodegradability in both industrial and household composting.
Biological recycling of materials and products is one way to reduce and recycle waste. The European Union Directive on Packaging and Packaging Waste (94/62/EG) defines the requirements for recyclable packaging and gives biological recycling as one of the acceptable treatment methods.
Applying biological treatment techniques in accordance with EN 13432 is one way to comply with the corresponding requirements of Directive 94/62/EG of the European Parliament and the Council of Europe. Legislation that bans sending combustible waste to landfill (since 2003) and organic waste to landfill (since 2005) has also increased interest in the use of materials that are biodegradable and/or compostable.
The certification of Invercote applies to Invercote G in weights from 260 to 380 gsm and Invercup (a special product manufacturing drinking cups) from 210 to 266 gsm.
