To support the “serious paper for serious designers” message for its Accent Opaque line, International Paper had a Serious Face-Off contest where they asked designers to send images of themselves looking serious.
Not only did International Paper get serious faces, but also designers’ serious talk about paper: how they use it, what they look for and what they care about most. IP writes, “[Their] passion and knowledge about paper and printing are undeniable.”
Hundreds of designers submitted their somber expressions. There were prizes of course, and the title of “Most Serious Designer” was bestowed on Timoni Grone of San Francisco.
A terrific promotional piece gleaned from the competition exhibits some of the most interesting entries.
